Kenmore Appliance Repair

Every Sears store in the Dallas-Fort Worth area is permanently closed. The Irving Mall Sears, the Sears in Arlington, the locations in Dallas, Plano, and Fort Worth — all gone. The nearest remaining Sears is now in El Paso, over 500 miles away.

But your Kenmore refrigerator, washer, dryer, or dishwasher is still in your kitchen. And when it breaks, you need someone local who actually understands these appliances.

We provide Kenmore appliance repair for all Kenmore models regardless of age or who originally manufactured them. Kenmore appliances were built by Whirlpool, LG, Frigidaire, GE, and others depending on the model. We know which parts work, which error codes mean what, and how to diagnose problems that general repair companies miss.

If your Kenmore is showing an error code, not cooling, not draining, or not heating, we can help. Same-day appointments available for most Irving locations.

Kenmore Appliances We Repair

Kenmore Refrigerators

Kenmore refrigerators include top-freezer, bottom-freezer, side-by-side, and French door models. Depending on when yours was made, it may have been built by Whirlpool, LG, Frigidaire, or another manufacturer. We service all of them.

What we repair:

  • Not cooling or freezer cold but fridge warm
  • Compressor running constantly or clicking on and off
  • Ice maker not making ice or leaking
  • Water dispenser not working
  • Frost buildup in freezer (defrost system failure)
  • Temperature fluctuations or food freezing in fridge
  • Error codes: Er IF, Er FF, Er CF, Er dH, SY EF

Irving-specific issue: If your Kenmore refrigerator sits in your garage, Texas summer heat is the most common cause of failure. Garage temperatures above 100°F force the compressor to run continuously, which shortens its lifespan significantly. We see this every summer across Irving, especially in older homes where the garage fridge is 10+ years old.

We provide Kenmore refrigerator repair for all model types and ages.

Kenmore Washers

Kenmore washers include top-load, front-load, and high-efficiency (HE) models. The HE2, HE3, and Elite lines were popular for years and remain common in Irving homes. Error codes vary by model platform.

What we repair:

  • Won’t drain or drains slowly
  • Won’t spin or stops mid-cycle
  • Stuck on sensing or fill cycle
  • Lid lock problems (F5 E1, F5 E2)
  • Unbalanced load errors (F0 E5, UE)
  • Motor or drive system failures (F7 E1, LE)
  • Door lock failures on front-load models (dE)
  • Mildew smell from door gasket

Common error codes by model type:

  • Top-load (110 prefix): F5 E2 (lid lock fault), F0 E5 (unbalanced), F7 E1 (motor speed sensing), F51 (rotor position sensor)
  • Front-load (796 prefix): OE (won’t drain), UE (unbalanced), LE (motor locked), dE (door lock), IE (water inlet)
  • HE2/HE3 models: F02/F21 (long drain), F11 (communication error), FH (no water fill)

Irving-specific issue: DFW has some of the hardest water in the country, measuring 140-160 mg/L. This mineral-heavy water clogs inlet valve screens over time, causing slow-fill or no-fill errors. If your Kenmore washer takes forever to fill or shows water inlet errors, hard water buildup is often the cause.

We provide Kenmore washer repair for all model types.

Kenmore Dryers

Kenmore dryers include electric and gas models in standard and high-efficiency configurations. The Elite and HE3 lines are especially common in Irving. Error codes indicate specific component failures.

What we repair:

  • Running but not heating (most common call)
  • Takes multiple cycles to dry clothes
  • Runs then shuts off before clothes are dry
  • Makes squeaking, squealing, or thumping noises
  • Won’t start or won’t tumble
  • Gas igniter glows but won’t light (gas valve solenoid failure)
  • Error codes: F-01, F-22, F-23, F-26, F-30, L2

Key error codes:

  • F-01: Control board failure
  • F-22/F-23: Exhaust thermistor problem
  • F-26: Drive motor failure
  • F-30: Restricted airflow (vent cleaning needed)
  • L2: Low voltage on one leg of 240V supply — often a half-tripped breaker

Irving-specific issue: Many Irving homes route dryer vents through the attic. In summer, attic temperatures can exceed 140°F, which reduces the temperature difference needed for efficient drying. If your Kenmore dryer takes longer to dry clothes in summer months, the vent routing may be the underlying cause.

We provide Kenmore dryer repair for electric and gas models.

Kenmore Dishwashers

Kenmore dishwashers were primarily built by Whirlpool. The 665 model prefix is the most common. Error codes display as flashing light patterns or alphanumeric codes depending on whether your model has a digital display.

What we repair:

  • Won’t drain or standing water in bottom
  • Won’t start or no power
  • Not cleaning dishes properly
  • Not drying dishes
  • Door latch problems
  • Spray arm not spinning
  • Cloudy glasses or film on dishes

Key error codes (665 models):

  • 6-1 (F6E1): Water not entering machine
  • 6-2 (F6E2): Not draining properly
  • 6-4 (F6E4): Float switch stuck open
  • 6-6 (F6E6): Incoming water too cold (needs 120°F minimum)
  • 7-1: Heating circuit fault
  • 8-1/8-2: Drain pump error
  • Clean light flashing 7 times: Water not heating during wash cycle

Irving-specific issue: The hard water in Irving and throughout DFW causes mineral deposits to clog dishwasher spray arm nozzles over time. If your top rack dishes aren’t getting clean or you see cloudy film on glasses, this is almost always a hard water problem, not a dishwasher problem. We can clean the spray arms and check for other mineral buildup during service.

We provide Kenmore dishwasher repair for all models.

Kenmore Ovens and Ranges

Kenmore ovens and ranges include freestanding, slide-in, and wall-mounted configurations in gas and electric. Most were built by Frigidaire or Whirlpool.

What we repair:

  • Oven not heating or uneven heating
  • Gas burners won’t ignite or click continuously
  • Temperature inaccurate (burns or undercooks food)
  • Self-clean cycle problems
  • Door won’t open after self-clean
  • Control panel or display not working
  • Electric elements not heating

We provide Kenmore oven repair for gas and electric models.

Common Kenmore Problems We Fix

Kenmore Refrigerator Not Cooling

This is our most common Kenmore refrigerator call. The cause depends on the symptoms.

If the freezer is cold but the fridge section is warm: The air damper that controls airflow between freezer and fridge may be stuck closed, or the evaporator fan that circulates cold air is not running. On some models, ice buildup blocks the air vent between compartments.

If both sections are warm but the compressor is running: The condenser coils may be clogged with dust, especially on units in garages or dusty environments. Dirty coils cause the compressor to overheat and lose cooling efficiency. On older units, this can also indicate a sealed system problem requiring refrigerant work.

If the compressor clicks on and off repeatedly: The start relay may have failed. This is a common failure on Kenmore refrigerators and is usually an inexpensive repair if caught early. Ignoring the clicking can burn out the compressor.

If your refrigerator is in the garage: Texas summer heat is likely the cause. Compressors are designed to operate in 60-85°F environments. When garage temperatures exceed 100°F, the unit cannot cool effectively regardless of mechanical condition.

Kenmore Dryer Not Heating

This is our most common Kenmore dryer call. The drum spins but clothes come out wet.

For electric dryers: The most common cause is a half-tripped circuit breaker. Electric dryers need 240V — the drum motor runs on 120V (one leg) while the heating element needs 240V (both legs). If one breaker trips, the drum spins but there is no heat. Check both breakers first.

If power is confirmed, the thermal fuse is the next most likely cause. This is a safety device that blows when the dryer overheats, usually from a clogged vent. A blown thermal fuse must be replaced, but the underlying vent restriction must also be addressed or the new fuse will blow again.

For gas dryers: If the igniter glows orange then shuts off without gas igniting, the gas valve solenoids have failed. These parts test normal at room temperature but fail when hot, making this one of the trickiest dryer problems to diagnose. The solenoids need replacement.

Kenmore Washer F51 Error

F51 is a rotor position sensor (RPS) error on Kenmore Elite Oasis and Cabrio-platform washers. This error stops the washer mid-cycle.

What this means: The motor’s position sensor cannot detect the rotor location. On many units, this is caused by a loose wire connection at the sensor rather than a failed component. Sears acknowledged a manufacturing defect in the original wire harness on affected models.

Why it matters: F51 can sometimes be intermittent, appearing once then not again for weeks. However, it indicates a problem that will eventually fail completely. Service is needed to inspect the connection and sensor.

Kenmore Washer F5 E2 Error

F5 E2 indicates a lid lock fault on Kenmore top-load washers. The washer detects that the lid is not locking properly and will not start the cycle.

What this means: The lid lock mechanism has failed, there is an obstruction in the lock strike, or the wiring between the lock and control board is damaged. In some cases, dried detergent or fabric softener buildup prevents the lock from engaging fully.

Why it matters: The lid lock is a safety feature. The washer will not spin with an unlocked lid. If F5 E2 appears, the washer needs service to replace the lid lock assembly or repair the wiring.

Kenmore Dishwasher Not Draining

Standing water in the bottom of the dishwasher after a cycle indicates a drainage problem.

What this means: The drain pump may be blocked or failed, the drain hose may be kinked or clogged, or the check valve is stuck. On units connected to a garbage disposal, the disposal knockout plug may not have been removed during installation, blocking drainage.

The 6-2 or 8-1/8-2 error codes confirm a drain-related fault. Service is needed to clear the blockage or replace the drain pump.

How to Find Your Kenmore Model Number

We need your model number to confirm which parts fit your specific Kenmore appliance. Kenmore model numbers are typically 11 digits and start with a 3-digit prefix.

Model number locations:

  • Refrigerators: Inside the fresh food compartment on the left or right wall, or on the back panel behind the crisper drawers
  • Washers: Inside the door frame, under the lid, or on the back panel
  • Dryers: Inside the door frame or on the back panel
  • Dishwashers: Inside the door on the left side or top of the door frame — open the door and look at the edge
  • Ovens/Ranges: Behind the storage drawer on the frame, or inside the oven door frame

Why the model number matters: Kenmore never manufactured appliances. They were built by Whirlpool, LG, Frigidaire, GE, Samsung, and others. The first three digits of your model number identify the actual manufacturer. This determines which parts fit and which diagnostic procedures apply. When you call, have your model number ready so we can prepare for your specific unit.

Why Your Kenmore Needs Local Service

The Sears service network that supported Kenmore appliances for decades no longer exists in any practical sense for Irving homeowners. Sears Home Services still operates nationally, but customer reviews consistently cite missed appointments, 8-9 hour service windows, long waits for parts, and difficulty reaching anyone by phone.

Meanwhile, your Kenmore appliance was designed to last 15-20 years. Many Irving homes still have Kenmore refrigerators, washers, and dryers from the 1990s and 2000s that work fine — until they need repair. When that happens, you need someone local who can respond quickly and actually knows these machines.

What local service means for Kenmore owners

Same-day or next-day appointments: We serve Irving and the surrounding DFW area. If you call before noon, we can often come the same day. No 8-hour windows.

Technicians who understand multi-manufacturer parts: Your Kenmore was built by Whirlpool, LG, Frigidaire, or another brand. Parts for a Kenmore model 795 refrigerator are literally LG parts. Parts for a Kenmore 110 washer are Whirlpool parts. Knowing these cross-references means faster diagnosis and often better parts availability.

Irving-specific knowledge: We know that hard water clogs dishwasher spray arms and washer inlet screens. We know that garage refrigerators fail every summer when temperatures exceed 100°F. We know that dryer vents routed through attics reduce efficiency in Texas heat. This local context matters for accurate diagnosis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. While every Sears store in the DFW area has closed, Kenmore appliances can still be repaired by independent service companies like ours. The parts remain available because Kenmore appliances were manufactured by Whirlpool, LG, Frigidaire, and other major brands. Parts from the original manufacturer work in Kenmore-branded units.

Kenmore never manufactured appliances. Different manufacturers built different Kenmore products. The first three digits of your model number indicate the manufacturer: 110 or 106 means Whirlpool, 795 or 796 means LG, 253 means Frigidaire, 363 means GE. This information helps us identify the correct parts and diagnostic procedures for your specific unit.

F5 E2 indicates a lid lock fault on Kenmore top-load washers. The washer cannot verify that the lid is locked, so it will not start the spin cycle. This error usually means the lid lock assembly needs replacement, though sometimes dried detergent buildup in the lock mechanism is the cause.

For electric dryers, the most common cause is a half-tripped circuit breaker. Electric dryers need both legs of 240V power — the drum runs on 120V but the heating element needs 240V. If one breaker trips, the drum spins with no heat. Check both breakers. If power is good, the thermal fuse has likely blown due to a clogged vent. For gas dryers, a glowing igniter that shuts off without igniting gas indicates failed gas valve solenoids.

If your Kenmore refrigerator is in the garage, Texas summer heat is likely the cause. Refrigerator compressors are designed for 60-85°F environments. When garage temperatures exceed 100°F, the compressor runs constantly and cannot maintain proper cooling. Moving the refrigerator to a climate-controlled space or adding garage insulation are the only permanent solutions.

Er IF indicates an ice compartment fan failure on LG-manufactured Kenmore refrigerators (795 prefix models). The fan that circulates air in the ice compartment has stopped working or is blocked by ice buildup. Service is needed to test the fan motor and check for ice obstruction.

Cloudy film on glasses is almost always caused by hard water, not a dishwasher problem. DFW has some of the hardest water in the country at 140-160 mg/L. Mineral deposits accumulate on dishes and can also clog spray arm nozzles over time. Using rinse aid and periodically cleaning the spray arms helps, but the underlying cause is water hardness.

Kenmore model numbers do not directly encode the manufacture date. However, the serial number does. The first two characters of most Kenmore serial numbers indicate the year and month of manufacture (example: CF = 2012 June). We can help you decode your serial number when you call for service.
