Bosch Appliance Repair

Bosch dishwashers operate differently than American brands. There is no exposed heating element. The drying system uses condensation physics and stainless steel tub properties. The leak protection system uses multiple sensors rather than a single float switch. When something goes wrong, the error codes (E15, E24, E25) point to specific failures that require understanding how these German-engineered systems actually work.

We provide Bosch appliance repair in Irving TX for dishwashers, refrigerators, washers, and ventless dryers. Bosch is owned by BSH Home Appliances, the same company that makes Thermador and Gaggenau. This matters because many components are shared across these brands, which helps when sourcing parts or diagnosing unusual failures.

If your Bosch dishwasher shows E15, water has collected in the base pan and triggered the AquaStop safety switch. If it shows E24 or E25, there is a drainage blockage. If dishes come out wet, the issue depends on which drying system your model uses. We diagnose the actual cause rather than replacing parts until something works.

Bosch Appliances We Repair

Bosch Dishwashers

Bosch dishwashers account for most of our Bosch service calls in Irving. They are quieter than competing brands (38-50 dBA depending on series) but use technology that general appliance technicians often misunderstand.

How Bosch drying works: All Bosch dishwashers use condensation drying rather than heated air. The final rinse heats the dishes. The stainless steel tub cools faster than the dishes. Moisture condenses on the cooler tub walls and drains away. This is why there is no exposed heating element and why plastic items are safe on the bottom rack.

Drying technology by series:

  • 100 Series (model prefixes SHE3, SHS4): PureDry condensation only. Hybrid tub with stainless bottom and plastic sides. 48-50 dBA. If dishes are wet, check rinse aid level and water temperature (needs 120°F minimum).
  • 300 Series (SHE53, SHP53, SHPM53): PureDry with full stainless tub, InfoLight floor indicator, AquaStop leak protection. 44-46 dBA. Wet dishes usually mean low rinse aid or incorrect unloading sequence (unload bottom first).
  • 500 Series (SHP55, SHPM55, SHPM65Z): AutoAir technology automatically opens the door at cycle end to release steam. 44 dBA. If dishes are wet, verify AutoAir is enabled and the door actually opens (actuator motor can fail).
  • 800 Series (SHP78, SHPM78, SHX78): CrystalDry uses zeolite minerals that absorb moisture and release heat up to 176°F. 42 dBA. If dishes are wet after several years of use, the zeolite tray may need replacement (typical lifespan 5-10 years).
  • Benchmark Series (SHP88, SHPM88, SHV88): CrystalDry plus TimeLight projection showing remaining time on floor. Built-in water softener. 38 dBA (quietest available). Made in Germany.

Error codes we diagnose:

  • E15 – AquaStop detected water in the base pan. The dishwasher will not run until this is cleared and the leak source is fixed.
  • E24 – Drain filter is blocked. Water cannot exit the machine.
  • E25 – Drain pump is blocked or the pump cover is loose/missing.
  • E22 – Fine filter is clogged with food debris.
  • E16/E17/E18 – Water inlet problems. E16 is valve fault, E17 is overfill, E18 is underfill.

We provide Bosch dishwasher repair for all series. Common issues: E15 error, dishes not drying, not draining, InfoLight blinking, door latch problems.

Bosch Refrigerators

Bosch refrigerators are less common than their dishwashers but share the same engineering philosophy. They use VitaFresh technology and multi-airflow cooling in counter-depth and built-in configurations.

What we service:

  • Compressor and sealed system diagnosis
  • Ice maker troubleshooting (FlexBar system on newer models)
  • Temperature sensor calibration
  • Door seal and gasket replacement
  • Control board and display repairs

If your Bosch refrigerator runs constantly but does not cool, check the condenser coils first. They are usually at the bottom rear and collect dust that reduces cooling efficiency. If the freezer is cold but the fresh food section is warm, the evaporator fan or air damper may have failed.

We provide Bosch refrigerator repair for French door, bottom-freezer, and built-in models.

Bosch Washers

Bosch makes compact (24-inch) and full-size washers with SpeedPerfect cycles and ActiveWater technology. In Irving, the compact models are common in apartments and condos where space is limited.

What we service:

  • Door lock and latch assembly replacement
  • Drain pump failures and blockages
  • Bearing and spider arm repairs
  • Control board diagnostics
  • AquaStop system troubleshooting

We provide Bosch washer repair for 300, 500, and 800 series washers.

Bosch Dryers (Ventless Only)

Bosch stopped making vented dryers. All current models are ventless, using either heat pump or condenser technology. This makes them ideal for Irving apartments and condos without exterior vent access, but the technology is different from what most technicians know.

Ventless dryers extract moisture from clothes and collect it as water. A small pump pushes this water through a drain hose. When the pump clogs with lint, the dryer displays DR and stops mid-cycle.

Error codes:

  • DR – Condensation drainage problem. Usually a clogged sump pump or blocked drain hose. This is the most common Bosch dryer error.
  • E63 – Heating element failure.
  • E08/E09 – Heating element or relay fault.
  • CrE – Time to run the maintenance cycle (not an error).

We provide Bosch dryer repair for all ventless models. If you have a ventless dryer showing DR, we can usually clear it with a thorough cleaning of the condenser filter, sump, and pump area.

Bosch Ovens and Cooktops

Bosch wall ovens and cooktops use European Convection and share many components with Thermador (same parent company). We service 500 and 800 series cooking appliances.

What we service:

  • Igniter replacement (gas models)
  • Heating element diagnosis (electric)
  • Temperature calibration
  • Control panel and display repairs
  • Door hinge and lock mechanisms
  • Induction coil and power module repairs

We provide Bosch oven repair for wall ovens, ranges, and cooktops.

Common Bosch Problems We Fix

Bosch Dishwasher E15 Error

E15 means the AquaStop leak protection system detected water pooling in the base pan under your dishwasher. The machine will not run until the water is removed and the leak source is fixed.

To temporarily clear E15:

  • Unplug the dishwasher or turn off the circuit breaker.
  • Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher.
  • Carefully pull the dishwasher out from under the counter.
  • Tilt the machine back at about 45 degrees to drain water from the base pan.
  • Let it sit for several hours or overnight to dry.
  • Restore power and test.

If E15 returns: There is an active leak. Common sources include worn door seals, cracked spray arms, loose hose clamps, and failing inlet valves. Simply clearing the code without fixing the leak will damage the machine over time and may cause water damage to your floor or cabinets.

Bosch Dishwasher E24/E25 Error

Both codes indicate drainage problems. E24 means the drain filter is blocked. E25 means the drain pump is blocked or the pump cover came loose.

To diagnose and clear:

  • Remove the bottom rack.
  • Twist and lift out the cylindrical filter assembly.
  • Remove the flat mesh filter underneath.
  • Use a spoon to pry off the pump cover (it clicks off).
  • Check the pump impeller for broken glass, bones, or debris.
  • Clean all components under running water.
  • Reassemble: mesh filter first, then cylindrical filter (twist to lock).

If the code returns: The drain hose may be kinked or clogged at the garbage disposal connection. The check valve (backflow preventer) inside the pump may have debris stuck in it. If the pump motor hums but does not spin, the impeller is jammed or the motor is failing.

Bosch Dishwasher Not Drying

Bosch dishwashers use condensation drying. There is no heating element blowing hot air. If dishes come out wet, the cause depends on your model.

For 100-300 Series (PureDry):

  • Check that the rinse aid dispenser is full. Rinse aid reduces water surface tension so droplets slide off.
  • Run the Sanitize option to increase the final rinse temperature.
  • Unload the bottom rack first. Water pooled on items in the upper rack will drip down if you unload top-to-bottom.
  • Plastics will always retain more moisture than glass or ceramic. This is a limitation of condensation drying.

For 500 Series (AutoAir):

  • Verify AutoAir is enabled in the dishwasher settings.
  • Check that the door actually pops open at the end of the cycle. If it does not, the actuator motor has likely failed.
  • Confirm there is at least 1.5 inches of clearance in front of the dishwasher for the door to open.

For 800/Benchmark Series (CrystalDry):

  • Verify the Extra Dry option is selected.
  • If the dishwasher is more than 5 years old and drying has gradually worsened, the zeolite mineral tray may need replacement.
  • Listen for the circulation fan during the drying phase. If silent, the fan may have failed.

Bosch InfoLight Blinking

The InfoLight is the red LED that projects onto the floor to indicate the dishwasher is running. Bosch dishwashers are so quiet that owners cannot tell if a cycle is active, so the light provides visual confirmation.

Solid red light: Cycle is running normally.

No light: Cycle is complete.

Blinking red light: One of three issues:

  • The door is not fully latched. Close it firmly until it clicks.
  • Delayed start is active. Cancel the delay or wait for the scheduled time.
  • An error code is present. Open the door and check the display panel for an E-code.

If the InfoLight does not work at all but the dishwasher runs normally, the LED has likely burned out. Replacement requires removing the door panel to access the light assembly.

Bosch Ventless Dryer DR Error

DR is the most common error on Bosch 300, 500, and 800 series ventless dryers. It indicates a problem with condensation drainage.

What is happening: Moisture extracted from clothes collects in a sump at the bottom of the machine. A small pump pushes this water through a drain hose. When lint accumulates in the sump or pump, water backs up and triggers DR.

To fix DR:

  • Unplug the dryer.
  • Open the front access panel (lift levers at bottom, pull center handle).
  • Pull out the condenser filter cartridge using its handle.
  • At the back of the condenser cavity, remove the bottom panel (use a screwdriver to push up and pull forward).
  • Clean the sump area and pump impeller. Lint accumulates here over time.
  • Reassemble and test.

To test the pump: Pour about one cup of water into the sump area. Plug in the dryer and start any cycle. The pump should activate and push the water out the drain hose within about 30 seconds. If not, the pump motor may need replacement.

Prevention: Clean the lint filter after every load. Clean the condenser filter monthly. Check the drain hose twice a year for kinks or blockages.

How to Find Your Bosch Model Number

We need your model number to confirm parts availability and provide an accurate diagnosis. Bosch model numbers encode the series, features, and configuration.

Model number locations:

  • Dishwashers: Inside the door on the left side or top of the door frame. Open the door and look at the edge.
  • Refrigerators: Inside the fresh food compartment on the left or right wall, or on the back panel behind the crisper drawers.
  • Washers: Inside the door frame or on the back of the machine.
  • Dryers: Inside the door frame or on the back panel.
  • Ovens: Behind the oven door on the frame, or on the back panel (requires pulling the unit forward).

Reading a Bosch dishwasher model number:

  • S = Dishwasher
  • H = Home (residential)
  • P/X/V/E = Handle style (P=pocket, X=bar, V=fully integrated, E=recessed)
  • M = MyWay rack (if present)
  • Numbers (53/55/65/78/88) = Series level
  • Z/W = Additional features (Z=premium, W=specific variant)
  • Last digits = Color (5N=stainless, 2UC=black, 6UC=white)

Example: SHPM78Z55N = Dishwasher, Home, Pocket handle, MyWay rack, 78=800 series, Z=premium, 55N=stainless steel

Why Bosch Appliances Need Specialized Service

Bosch appliances use different technology than American brands. Technicians trained on Whirlpool, GE, or Frigidaire often misdiagnose Bosch problems because they expect different systems.

Condensation Drying vs. Heated Drying

Most American dishwashers use an exposed heating element to dry dishes with hot air. Bosch uses condensation physics. If a technician does not understand this, they may incorrectly diagnose a “failed heating element” when none exists, or recommend replacing parts that are working correctly.

AquaStop Leak Protection

Bosch AquaStop uses multiple sensors and a double-walled inlet hose (on higher models) rather than a simple float switch. E15 errors require tracing the actual leak source, not just resetting the code. We have seen other repair companies “fix” E15 by tilting the machine repeatedly, only for the customer to call us weeks later with water damage because the underlying leak was never addressed.

Ventless Dryer Technology

Bosch only makes ventless dryers now. These use heat pump or condenser technology that most appliance technicians have never worked on. The DR error specifically relates to condensation drainage, a system that does not exist in traditional vented dryers. Trying to diagnose a ventless dryer with vented dryer experience leads to incorrect parts replacements.

BSH Parts Compatibility

Bosch, Thermador, and Gaggenau are all owned by BSH Home Appliances. Many parts, especially in cooking appliances, are interchangeable across brands. When a specific Bosch part is backordered, we can sometimes source an identical Thermador or Gaggenau part with the same specifications. General appliance repair companies typically do not know this cross-reference exists.

Quiet Operation Diagnostics

Bosch dishwashers operating at 38-44 dBA are nearly silent. Traditional “listen for the problem” diagnosis does not work. We use the built-in diagnostic modes and sensor readings to identify issues rather than relying on sound cues that simply are not present.

Frequently Asked Questions

E15 means the AquaStop leak protection system detected water in the base pan under the dishwasher. The machine shuts down to prevent flooding. To temporarily clear: unplug, pull out the dishwasher, tilt back 45° to drain water from the base. However, you must find and fix the leak source or E15 will return. Common leak sources include door seals, spray arm connections, and inlet valves.

Bosch uses condensation drying, not heated air. For PureDry models (100-300 series): use rinse aid and run the Sanitize option. For AutoAir models (500 series): verify the door actually pops open at cycle end. For CrystalDry models (800/Benchmark): check that Extra Dry is selected; if drying has worsened over time, the zeolite tray may need replacement after 5-10 years. Plastics dry less effectively than glass or ceramic in condensation drying systems.

That is the InfoLight feature. Bosch dishwashers operate as quietly as 38 dBA, so owners cannot tell if a cycle is running. The red light on the floor indicates status: solid red means running, no light means cycle complete, blinking red means an error or the door is not fully latched. Benchmark models have TimeLight instead, which projects remaining time in white light.

Press and hold the Start button for 3-5 seconds until the display clears. For a full reset: turn off the circuit breaker for 30 seconds, then restore power. Note that resetting clears error codes but does not fix the underlying problem. If the same code returns after reset, the issue needs diagnosis and repair.

DR is the most common error on Bosch ventless dryers. It means the condensation drain pump is clogged or failing. Lint accumulates in the pump sump over time. To fix: unplug the dryer, remove the condenser filter, remove the bottom panel at the back of the condenser cavity, clean the sump area and pump impeller, reassemble and test. If the pump does not move water after cleaning, the motor needs replacement.

Some parts are interchangeable. Bosch and Thermador are both owned by BSH Home Appliances (along with Gaggenau). They share components in many cooking appliances, especially igniters, burner assemblies, and control boards. Dishwashers and laundry appliances have more brand-specific parts. Knowing which parts cross over helps when specific Bosch parts are backordered.

Bosch dishwashers typically last 10-15 years with proper maintenance. This is longer than the industry average of 5-7 years. Bosch dishwashers are made in North Carolina (some Benchmark models in Germany) and pass 485 quality checks before shipping. Lifespan depends on cleaning filters monthly, using rinse aid, and addressing error codes promptly rather than ignoring them.

Food debris trapped in the filter system causes odors. Remove and clean the cylindrical filter, flat mesh filter, and pump cover area monthly. Also check the door seal gasket for trapped food particles. Run a cleaning cycle with dishwasher cleaner or white vinegar in an empty machine on the hottest setting. Bosch stainless steel tubs resist odor better than plastic tubs, but filters still need regular cleaning.
